In short, the princess saves herself in this one sounded like exactly what I look for in my poetry. That it was amazing and raw and powerful. However, I kept hearing positive things about this poetry collection by Amanda Lovelace.

Usually, I am very picky about modern poetry, so it takes a lot for me to pick up a collection. I must confess something: I usually don’t care for modern poetry unless it is set to music. I think The Princess Saves Herself in This One is such an important book to read, especially for girls and women.The princess saves herself in this one Review I’ve already told my mom she has to read it because I loved it so much. I feel like this is such a powerful, eye-opening book. Enjoyability/ Would I Recommend – I would recommend this to anyone and everyone mature enough and comfortable with reading the content.All the poems had a purpose in the grand scheme of the book. Everything flowed chronologically to create a bigger story. It was like I was being taken on a journey. Flow – The poems in this collection flowed beautifully.Every single poem captured me and I couldn’t put the book down until I’d finished. Every poem is so heartfelt and I felt like I had known Amanda Lovelace for years after finishing (which is exactly how I want to feel after reading a collection about someone’s life). I’ve loved poetry since the fifth grade and this collection is by far the most beautiful poetry I’ve ever read. Writing – If you couldn’t already tell, I loved the writing.I’ll split up my review into a few parts for more detail. From there, I knew I was going to love this book. The book starts with the most beautiful dedication I’ve ever seen. The poems felt so real because they were. There are so many raw, heartbreaking poems in this collection, which is why I loved it so much. It is a beautifully written poetry book about Amanda Lovelace’s life. I gave The Princess Saves Herself in This One 5 out of 5 stars on Goodreads. Explores life & all of its love, loss, grief, healing, empowerment, & inspirations. the princess, the damsel, & the queen piece together the life of the author in three stages, while you serves as a note to the reader & all of humankind.
